Civic Heritage
Our archaeological and built heritage experts have a detailed understanding of a site’s cultural heritage and how pivotal that is to sustainable placemaking.

We are an archaeology and heritage consultancy working across the UK providing a broad range of services including archaeological, historic environment and environmental impact assessments; historic building surveys, excavations and publications.
Our team is led by Ollie Cook and Katie Fletcher, previously of Salford Archaeology, who have a combined experience of over 30 years and a wealth of knowledge of the evaluation, design and planning process, and we launched in 2024. Based in Manchester we also operate across Civic’s network of studios in Leeds, London, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dublin.
Working with developers, constructors, planning consultants, architects, local government and property owners, we believe the archaeology and heritage services we offer are hugely important in ensuring we develop sustainably so we can create healthy, climate resilient places, spaces and communities. Of particular interest and importance is that any changes to the urban fabric reflect what was there before.

We believe that understanding the past is essential to shaping sustainable, vibrant places for the future. Our work ensures that cultural heritage is not only respected, but meaningfully integrated into the planning and development process.
