Historic Buildings Project Manager

Lewis Stitt

Hi, I’m Lewis, the historic buildings project manager in Manchester.

I graduated from The University of Central Lancashire in 2009 with a degree in Archaeology, having previously worked as a welder and sheet metal worker in my hometown of Dumfries. Since graduating I have been able to apply my engineering background in archaeology, which has helped me develop my understanding of the Industrial Revolution period. I joined Civic in 2024, previously I have worked around the north-west of the UK recording some amazing buildings including the Grade I Listed Manchester Town Hall and the former Vulcan Motor and Engineering Company in Southport, where I co-authored a journal article for The Association for Industrial Archaeology.

At Civic I project manage historic building investigations and complete project designs to help our clients deliver their heritage planning obligations. I also undertake measured surveys utilising 3D laser scanners to produce 3D pointclouds with the result producing highly detailed drawings.

Outside of archaeology I am a keen gardener and love growing vegetables with my son. I also enjoy DIY and I am currently renovating our house.
