National Transport Authority SuDS Guidance

Guidance commissioned by the National Transport Authority of Ireland that designers and contractors can use to design and construct retrofit, nature based solutions in existing streets and along new Active Travel corridors.

The guidance provides practical information and technical details in relation to dimensions, planting, challenges, and potential solutions which can be implemented into full build or rapid build active travel projects. Focused on a range of interventions from raised planters through to raingardens, bioswales and SuDS tree pits setting out pro’s and con’s, design guidance and strategies for community engagement and maintenance. The guide was supported by a series of case studies from both within Ireland and further afield.

The guidance is designed to complement existing guidance and provide need-to-know advice in a compact and accessible format to enable the implementation of SuDs on NTA funded projects across Ireland.
