On Monday 20th October, our Director of Earth & Geoconsultancy, Dan Matthews, will join Professor Jess Davies, Director of Sustainability at Lancaster University’s Environment Centre, to lead the first lunchtime session at the Festival of Place: Climate Resilience.

In their session, “It all starts with soil…”, they’ll explore:

  • How soil stores carbon, supports biodiversity, and sustains life itself
  • Why soil health is key to sustainable development and climate resilience
  • Insights from the Soils in Planning and Construction Task Force and the landmark Building on Soil Sustainability report

With 58% of the planet’s biodiversity beneath our feet, this conversation will reveal why soil is not just the ground we build on, but the foundation of ecosystems, food systems, and climate solutions.

Register now to join this groundbreaking session.

We’re proud, long-time champions of the Festival of Place, which brings together planners, developers, architects, local authorities, and change-makers to share ideas for shaping thriving, sustainable places.

Earlier this year, we hosted a system thinking workshop at their event, exploring ‘the collaborative city’. The workshop sparked interesting conversations about the challenges that come with working in silos - and how taking a more connected, collaborative approach can lead to better outcomes for the planet, people and places.

Sponsoring the Climate Resilience event underscores our ongoing commitment to building sustainable, resilient places for the long term.
