NLA Expert Panel appointments: system thinkers shaping London's future
Stephen, Gareth and Leah reappointed to shape the London agenda
As we enter 2026, London’s built environment faces a year of opportunity, renewal and challenge.
We’re pleased to share our team have been reappointed to key roles on the New London Architecture (NLA) Sounding Board and Expert Panels for 2026, to help set NLA's agenda in response.
Our CEO Stephen O'Malley is a member of NLA’s Sounding Board, which brings together the most senior urban leaders to provide a leading voice on the key issues that affect London and the profession. The Sounding Board is also chaired by Sadie Morgan, non-executive director at Civic.
Gareth Atkinson, director and head of our London studio, returns for his fifth consecutive year and will once again serve as Chair of the Net Zero Panel. An advocate for circular economy principles, and one of the founding members of The Engineers Reuse Collective, Gareth is focused on accelerating the reuse of buildings and materials, and Net Zero leadership. This Panel will focus on London and local leadership, adaptability and flexibility of building stock, resilience and green infrastructure, and a prioritising a green recovery for London.
Leah Stuart, director of our North studio, has also been reappointed to the Transport and Infrastructure Expert Panel. Leah brings expertise in designing sustainable infrastructure that unlocks growth opportunities and developing active, inclusive, and accessible spaces. This Panel will focus on the future of mobility and modal share of streets for all users, as well as the impact of transport infrastructure in unlocking growth and accessibility across the capital.
Stephen, Leah and Gareth’s appointments are a reflection of their considerable contributions to addressing the complex urban challenges that will shape London in the future.
