Hi, I’m John McTaggart a Structural Consultant, a chartered structural engineer BEng, CEng, MIStructE. I am also a former SER Certifier of structures.
I was a founding partner and managing director of Stuart McTaggart Limited, a firm of civil and structural engineers founded in 1997 based in Glasgow, which was then acquired by Quattro Consult at the beginning of 2017. Then in early 2026, Quattro Consult was acquired by Civic, strengthening our presence in Scotland.
I have a wealth of experience in the construction industry providing expert advice on site acquisition, site assembly, buildings design and technical coordination. I have managed successful projects covering Food Retail, Food Warehousing, Distribution Warehousing, Retail parks, Custodial, Hotel, Housing, High Rise BTR / PBSA and Shopping Centers.
During my non-work time my hobbies and activities include avid reading, and I am a very keen golfer. My wife and I have taken up cycling (albeit with electric bikes) and are exploring the Scottish coastline and surrounding islands.
