Hi! I'm Caroline, an Associate Mechanical and Electrical Engineer in our London studio.
I grew up in the Lake District and after graduating with an MEng in Civil and Architectural Engineering from the University of Bath in 2013, I moved to London and went into Building Services Engineering. Since then I've been lucky enough to work on a wide range of projects, including theatres and opera houses, museums, offices, student accommodation, libraries and archives.
I have a particular passion for heritage buildings, drawn to their rich histories and the opportunity to sensitively restore and repurpose them for future generations. My approach balances technical precision with an appreciation for architectural character and cultural value.
Rather than working exclusively in either mechanical or electrical disciplines, I’ve consistently worked across all aspects of MEP design to develop a broad and versatile skill set. The most rewarding aspect of my job is the collaboration with Architects and other Design Team members; I thrive working closely with others to solve challenges and finesse complex detailing.
My creative nature led me to develop a specialism in Architectural Lighting early in my career. A highlight was my lighting design for Nevill Holt Opera; a project that was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize in 2019.
I joined Civic in August 2025. With a background in Structural Engineering and over 10 years experience in Building Services Engineering, it seemed like a perfect fit for me!
Outside of work, I enjoy exploring the outdoors by foot or bike, discovering new cultures through travel and food, and getting hands-on with creative hobbies. I’m currently honing my pottery skills, although there's still a way to go!
