Climate Hub Manager

Civic Ben Raw

I’m Ben, climate hub manager at Civic. I’ve spent the last 14 years working in community development across Scotland, always focused on positive local change. I started as a youth worker with the Iona Community, before joining St Paul’s Youth Forum where I launched the ‘On Bikes’ project – looking at how active travel and placemaking can tackle transport poverty and health inequalities. I later led the Flourishing Molendinar project with Civic Engineers, helping communities in Provanmill and Blackhill re-see and re-imagine their neighbourhoods, particularly for those without access to cars.

Before Civic, I was at Cycling Scotland, running a national scheme to get bikes to young people who needed them. I’ve got a master’s from the University of Glasgow in Community Development, Adult Ed and Youth Work.

Outside of work, I’m usually with my partner and wee boy, watching Man United, or getting beat playing for my football team!
