I’m Ailsa, an Associate in the Structures team in Glasgow.
I joined Civic after moving to Glasgow from London at the end of 2025. I worked in London for 11 years on projects across all scales, sectors, and materials. A common thread through the work I’ve done is a focus on sustainability and now regenerative design. I believe taking a regenerative approach is essential to make engineering serve our society - the reason I was originally drawn to engineering as a career.
Civic’s vision is to “enable people to lead happier and healthier lives”, which aligns totally with my aspirations for the projects I work on. I think thinking beyond project boundaries is an important part of this, and I have enjoyed supporting projects with concurrent research and development work.
Outside of work, I’m spending time getting to know Glasgow and getting out to the West Coast. I love getting out of the city and hope to get a few Munros under my belt. Time spent in the city is mostly spent eating or planning what/where to eat next!
