Helping out in the garden in Manchester

Some of our Manchester team spent time last week at @Maggie’s Manchester, helping care for their beautiful garden - a tranquil space that offers peace and escape for visitors. swept the grounds, cleaned the garden slabs, and cut back overhanging bushes to keep the garden welcoming and accessible, fuelled by tea and biscuits.

Along the way, we also had the chance to chat with the centre’s amazing volunteers and hear more about the incredible work Maggie’s does in Manchester and across the UK.

A huge thank you to garden volunteers Jo and Doug for showing us the ropes, and letting us taste some delicious blackberries picked from the very impressive selection of produce grown in the garden (courgettes, pears, tomatoes, corn, strawberries, chard, herbs and much more!).

Half Pint Half Marathon in Glasgow

Last week, our Glasgow team took on the Half Pint Half Marathon 2025 - a 13-mile walk around the city with a pub stop at every mile.

This annual event combines a challenging distance with plenty of fun and refreshment along the way, and every step helped raise vital funds to support Maggie’s centres. Well done to everyone who made it round! There’s still time to donate here

Edale Skyline Challenge

Coming up in September, our Leeds studio will also be taking part in the Edale Skyline Challenge - a breathtaking walking route in the Peak District. Taking on the ridges and sweeping views of Edale is no small feat, but it’s one our team is excited to tackle to continue raising funds and awareness for Maggie’s. You can read more about the challenge and support the effort here

Why Maggie’s matters

Maggie’s offers practical and emotional support for free to anyone with cancer and their families.

Anyone can go in and get the support they need in the charity’s beautiful buildings, and each Maggie’s sees around 100 people a day.

Every Maggie’s follows a blueprint for cancer care as originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks. Maggie lived with advanced cancer for two years and was determined that she should not “lose the joy of living in the fear of dying”. In order to live more positively with cancer, Maggie believed people needed information, stress-reducing strategies, psychological support and the opportunity to meet other people in similar circumstances in a relaxed and beautiful setting.

The very first Maggie’s opened in Edinburgh in 1996 and there are now 24 centres in the UK and three overseas. Each Maggie’s is individually designed to be welcoming, open and light-filled spaces that feel like a home, and all have a kitchen table at their heart.
