One year of Civic – more than a name

A year ago, our name became Civic to better reflect who we are, how we work and the difference we want to make.

Civic brings together a broad range of services across the built environment, from civil and structural engineering to transport, MEP, environment and sustainability, geoconsultancy, archaeology and built heritage, and place-based consultancy.

We’re a team of system thinkers in the built environment, looking at the relationships between people, buildings, infrastructure, streets, landscapes and the natural environment to understand how places work as a whole and create positive impact for people, place and planet.

Over the past year, we’ve continued to put that approach into practice across our projects and communities, working with clients and partners to understand the bigger picture and find better ways forward.

But Civic isn’t just defined by its services, it’s also shaped by the people behind them. Different service lines and different people naturally bring different perspectives. Our teams work across cities, studios, projects and communities, each bringing their own experiences, interests and ways of looking at the world to what they do.

That range of perspectives is a big part of what makes Civic what it is. It influences the questions we ask, the ideas we explore and how we approach the challenges facing the places we work in.

Green has always been part of Civic’s identity, what with our brand to the green spaces, streets, landscapes and places we work to make better. So, to mark our first year as Civic, we challenged our people to capture the colour green as they saw it.

Photographs came in from across our studios and locations, and let’s just say the response was varied!

We’ve brought those photographs together into a collage that reflects the different perspectives within Civic. It’s about celebrating our first year, the people behind the work we do.
