Members of team Civic were in Cannes this week for MIPIM, joining thousands of built environment professionals for a busy programme of panels, meetings and conversations about the future of our towns and cities.
Representing Civic were Stephen O’Malley, Paul Morris, Isla Jackson, Rob Harris and Gareth Atkinson. Between them, the team took part in a number of sessions across the week’s programme.
On Tuesday, Isla joined Circ_it – The Edge Edition, bringing together city leaders, developers and investors to explore how good growth moves. Rob also spoke on the Stockholm Hub panel “From Stockholm to Europe: Rethinking Architecture and Urban Transformation”, discussing how architecture and urban transformation are shaping cities across Europe.
Later in the week, Paul joined the Manchester Pavilion panel “From vision to delivery: How Manchester’s ambitious CyanLines is taking shape”, while Gareth chaired a session on the London Stand exploring materials-first design, practical sustainability and adaptive reuse.
Civic was also proud to be a founding partner of Scotland at MIPIM, supporting the platform that brings together Scotland’s cities, agencies and industry leaders to showcase investment opportunities and development projects.
Rather than attempting to capture every conversation from the week, we asked the team to sum up this year’s event in just one word:
Balance.
Connection.
Collaboration.
Opportunity.
Adaptation.
Different perspectives, but together they paint a picture of a sector that continues to evolve – responding to new challenges while investing in better places.
