Hello, I’m Marc, Director of Place and founding director of New Practice, along with Becca.
With a focus on the future of Civic’s placemaking and community engagement teams, I lead on new collaborations, clients, projects and challenges. I also lead on the public facing aspect of our work, reinforcing our authority as place experts by regularly presenting to peers and wider audiences, and lectures internationally.
Architecturally trained, and having spent time at Studio Daniel Libeskind in New York, I also maintain a creative overview of projects - acting as a critical voice, ensuring ambition and robust delivery.
In 2020, I was appointed as an associate of the Design Council and most recently was reappointed as one of their experts for Design and Built Environment.
Building on existing and past work towards LGBTQIA+ advocacy in architecture in Scotland, I’m a founding organising committee member of Open Plan Scotland, a volunteer-led advocacy and support network for members of LGBTQIA+ community studying or working in Architecture in Scotland. Between 2021 and 2023, I was part of the organising committee for the Scottish Chapter of ArchitectureLGBT+.
I’m also on the Board of Cure Crohn's Colitis and a Trustee of Springburn Winter Gardens Trust, two causes that are incredibly important to me.
