Any Studio

Civic is a purpose focused company working within the built environment.  We are passionate about working with our clients to shape places that are climate-conscious, biodiverse and people-friendly.

This role would sit within our growing Environment and Sustainability Team within the wider umbrella of Team Civic and would be working across offices and teams to provide ecological advice and support to our colleagues and clients. That could include providing strategic ecological advice for sites and masterplans but also undertaking surveys, contributing to policy, strategy documents and helping to manage any ecological sub-consultants that might be required to provide additional resource or specific surveys.

This role will support clients in:

  • Identifying and managing ecological risks and opportunities throughout project delivery by providing advice and delivering surveys.
  • Advising on BNG – undertaking surveys and the assessments and providing advice at design stage and to clients on how best to meet legal requirements
  • Monitor ecological performance, using field data and site observations to assess performance with environmental commitments during construction.
  • Support biodiversity outcomes, ensuring that design aligns with ecological best practices and legal obligations – contributing to Nature Based Design Solutions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a person who is passionate about ecology and conservation to contribute and input to exciting and dynamic project designs, leaving a positive nature legacy.  It also offers the opportunity to continue to have hands-on ecology experience whilst getting more involved in strategy and helping to build a team.

We are a passionate and purpose driven company, that places great value in working with emotional intelligence.  We also offer flexible working arrangements as we understand that people have lives and different needs that need to be accommodated to allow them to thrive.

Key elements of the job:

  • Strategic Outlook: Supports business development, nurtures client connections, and contributes to long-term ecological and environmental planning.
  • Organised Project Manager: Experienced in managing budgets, schedules, and outputs across a variety of projects.
  • Effective Communicator: Skilled at presenting technical ecological information in a clear, accessible way for clients, stakeholders, and non-specialists.
  • Strong Stakeholder Engagement: Comfortable working with landowners, planners, regulators, and local communities employing emotional intelligence.
  • Analytical Thinker: Capable of evaluating ecological data, identifying trends, and making sound, evidence-based decisions.
