Civic are part of the team delivering Grow College Green, a landmark public realm project that will reshape the heart of Dublin.

Now launched to public consultation, the scheme marks an important step toward transforming College Green into a welcoming, inclusive and pedestrian-focused civic space.

Extending from South Great George’s Street to the gates of Trinity College Dublin, the proposals will create 17,000 square metres of enhanced public realm, including 75 new trees and 1,400 square metres of landscaped planting. Traffic will be removed, aside from timed deliveries and limited local access, allowing the space to function as a safe and accessible destination for everyone.

Working as part of the design team, our contribution centres on embedding sustainability, biodiversity and universal accessibility into the fabric of the scheme, ensuring movement through the space works for everyone.

Nature-based solutions underpin the design approach, supporting greening and climate resilience while restoring a sense of coherence and civic dignity to one of the city’s most historically significant settings, framed by Bank of Ireland and Trinity College.

Grow College Green will provide a flexible, multi-functional space capable of hosting cultural events, gatherings and everyday social exchange. Safe cycle routes and improved pedestrian connections will strengthen links across the city centre, supporting local businesses and enhancing footfall while aligning with the city’s climate action objectives.

Following earlier engagement, this non-statutory public consultation on the pre-planning design invites communities, stakeholders and city users to help shape the next chapter of College Green.

Aisling Murphy, Director and Head of Ireland at Civic said: "This project is a chance to rethink how the city’s historic core serves the people who live, work, and pass through it every day. By focusing on accessibility, green spaces, and places where people can really enjoy being, we’re creating a civic space that reflects Dublin’s character while looking to the future.

“As a Dubliner, it feels really special to play a role in shaping the future of College Green, one of the city’s most important civic spaces.”
